WELCOME TO THE SEPTEMBER 2021 EDITION OF THE BOOTSTRAPS NEWSLETTER.
HERE WE DISCUSS EVERYTHING GOING ON, UPCOMING EVENTS, WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS AND CELEBRATING OUR LOVE AND PASSION FOR EVERYTHING LEATHER!
FROM THE CEO:
Welcome everyone to the September issue of the BOOTSTRAPS News Leather. We have been tracking well this month with several our regular attendees coming into the centre as well as some new participants. Some great projects have been started and completed.
It is with great pleasure that I can introduce a new volunteer staff member – Kerry. Kerry comes to us with an extensive saddlery background and qualifications from years spent conducting formal training in the UK. Her work is impeccable and the wealth of knowledge that Kerry brings to the BOOTSTRAPS table will increase our capabilities enormously. I know Kerry will make a great addition to our team and thank her for coming on board.
Over the next few weeks, we are hoping to finalise the details regarding formal training and VET qualifications, so please watch this space. We are also negotiating another sponsored 8-to-12-week class this time in the horse tac genre. There will be more information on our social media pages about this soon.
As you would all know, COVID has hurt everyone, and BOOTSTRAPS is not the exception. Our only income is through donations, fundraising through sausage sizzles and raffles. These activities have been cut by almost 90% due to lockdowns and restrictions. We are always looking for donations or sponsors, so if you know anyone who would like to help, as well as lower their taxable income by donating to a charity, please let them know. I thank you all for you continued support and wish you all the best.

EVENTS:
Raffle Tickets: Porters Hotel Plainland, are continuing the meat tray raffles. These present a great opportunity for Bootstraps to fundraise between now and December. As always, if you're interested in lending us a hand and volunteering your time, please forward your details to enquiries@bootstraps.org.au
Bootstraps staff are happy to partner up with you all and show you how its done. We need volunteers for the following dates and times: Friday 15th October, Sunday 31st October, Saturday 20th November. Friday and Saturday nights from 6:30pm and Sunday lunch 12 noon (These sessions can be up to 1 1/2hr).
COMMUNITY:
As always our centre is always open to members and the community for them to drop in. The centre is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00am - 4:00pm. Feel free say hello or introduce yourself!
STAFF:
We are very excited to report that Sam and John have both been hard at work getting their Certificate III in Leather Production. As an organisation, we are really proud of their efforts. This also helps us line up with our next phase to the organisation, as we are looking at introducing leather work certificates to the local high schools in the New Year. So these certificates, coupled with their training qualifications means that it's all starting to look to be an exciting year for next year.
SUPPORT:
For all of our Bootstraps family, friends, followers and supporters - We'd like you to take a moment and also to take note of this essential service! Its not always easy to talk out aloud and sometimes you'd prefer to text it instead. And with everything going on around us all atm, you never know when you or someone you know might find themselves in a situation where they suddenly need this.
Please feel free to share with your friends, families and colleagues! Remember there is always someone willing to listen!

We are always so proud to promote all of our 500 Club Members that proudly supports us!
This month we want to acknowledge the continued support of all of our 500 Club Member's. 2021 has been difficult for many businesses yet our valued partners have stuck with us through their dedicated support. Please make sure that you support them however you can!
Bootstraps is really proud to have its many supporters onboard as 500 Club Members.

PROJECTS:
Every week our Bootstraps Members and, visitors to the centre toil away, for sometimes hours on end, to create their unique leather work pieces. We'd love to share some of the recent ones, and perhaps inspire you for your next leather work project! And remember to ask us as there are a range of lovely leather pieces for sale for you to take home today!
