WELCOME TO THE NOVEMBER 2021 EDITION OF THE BOOTSTRAPS NEWSLETTER.
HERE WE DISCUSS EVERYTHING GOING ON, UPCOMING EVENTS, WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS AND CELEBRATING OUR LOVE AND PASSION FOR EVERYTHING LEATHER!
FROM THE CEO:
Hello all and welcome back to our latest newsletter. We have had a wonderful month with several custom leather items finished by participants as well as by our staff for customers (see images further below).
It was an honour to make a special item for one of BOOTSTRAPS friends. Robyn and her mother visited our centre, and we were privileged to be shown a priceless book of theirs from WWII. Robyn’s great uncles served in the Middle East and created a book with photos of all the locations they travelled too and included a dried, pressed flower from each region. We decided to make a display box for this book to not only protect it but to also showcase and honour its creators. Thank you, Robyn, for this opportunity. (See images further below).
BOOTSTRSAPS, was invited to attend this years Light Horse display held in the Lockyer Valley. The 2nd Light Horse Plainland Troop held its Charge of Beersheba re-enactment on the 14th of November and BOOTSTRAPS was invited to set up our display strand and provide the prizes for the Troop competition. It was a great day all around with some wonderful displays of horsemanship and respect for our military heroes.
I would like to make a special mention and thank you to two organisations. Firstly, thank you to the Rotary Club Toowoomba East, for inviting me to be the guest speaker at one of their luncheons. It was a fantastic event, and I had the opportunity to discuss the evolution and purpose of BOOTSTRAPS with an organisation we had yet to contact. Secondly, I would like to thank the staff of Porters Plainland Hotel. Over the last 12 months Porters has invited us to sell raffle tickets at their restaurant to raise money. As this is currently our only source of income, these fine people have literally been what has kept our doors open. Thank you, Porters.
This will be the last newsletter for 2021. I would like to thank all my staff for a fantastic effort of the last year and thank you all for your support of BOOTSTRAPS. I wish you all a wonderful and safe Christmas period and look forward to seeing you all in 2022.
Thank you to all our staff and supporters who
have helped to get to where we are today.
See you next month and stay safe!!!
- Sam Kavanagh, CEO Bootstraps
Raffle tickets sales at Porters Hotel Plainland, have sadly come to an end for 2021. These presented a great opportunity for Bootstraps to fundraise and help to promote our organisation to the general public and wider community. If you know of a venue that is available for us to use to sell raffles tickets in 2022, please get in touch direct to: firstname.lastname@example.org
As always our head quarters, located in Gatton, Queensland, is always open to ADF personnel that are currently serving and/or ex, as well as the general community to drop in. The centre is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00am - 4:00pm. Feel free say hello or introduce yourself! Keep in mind however we are taking a break over Christmas and as such the centre will be closed.
Without the tireless support of our volunteers keeping Bootstraps going would be impossible. That being said, we're always on the lookout for more hands to help us lighten the load when it comes to helping those in need. Regardless of your background or skillsets, every one of us can help to play a part. It does need to be huge, it could be only a few hours a week through to a few days a week - really every little bit helps.
If you're in a position to offer some voluntary assistance to our organisation, then please reach out to us today by contacting us by phone or email to email@example.com
Also if you are in a position to assist us through monetary donations of any value, please visit our website and follow the link to: https://www.bootstraps.org.au/donations
For all of our Bootstraps family, friends, followers and supporters - We'd like you to take a moment and also to take note of this essential service! Its not always easy to talk out aloud and sometimes you'd prefer to text it instead. And with everything going on around us all atm, you never know when you or someone you know might find themselves in a situation where they suddenly need this.
Please feel free to share with your friends, families and colleagues! Remember there is always someone willing to listen!
